Is this realistic or am I delusional
Hi everyone,
I'm a software engineer with 8 years of experience, mostly in backend systems, architecture, and cloud.
I'm working on a SaaS idea on the side. It is starting to look more like an enterprise B2B product than a small side project. Progress has been slow working alone, so I'm considering bringing in 1-2 entry level developers.
Before doing that, I want honest feedback on whether this setup is actually viable.
Current idea:
Early-stage product, no revenue yet
No company/entity registered yet
Hire:
1 frontend developer
1 backend developer
Pay: NPR 15,000 to 25,000 per month
My role:
Architecture and system design
Guidance + active coding
I also have a full-time job
Constraints:
Remote work
Not a stable or guaranteed long-term role (initially)
around 12 months uncertain timeline. If i feel like the product won't sell... I'll definitely scratch off the product and the team. I'll definitely pay for all the time they've worked.
People can leave anytime
No guaranteed raises or promotions early on
If it works, compensation and team size will increase
Questions:
Is this setup realistic for building a business?
Does hiring 2 juniors make sense here at all?
Would this be fair from a junior developer's perspective?
What would you change in this approach?
Not hiring yet. Just trying to validate whether this approach is reasonable or fundamentally flawed.
Appreciate honest feedback.
