đź‘‹Welcome to r/delilahbeasley - Introduce Yourself and Read First!
Hey everyone! I'm u/InternationalSun7650, a founding moderator of r/delilahbeasley.
This is our new home to share a few minutes about Ms. Beasley. She was a rock star in the 1920’s-30s.
Oakland California was at the forefront of civil rights and Ms. Beasley was the first Black woman to write a weekly column in a widely distributed newspaper, the Oakland Tribune, sharing real time discussions, meetings, influencers of that period, in hopes to improve relations between the races. Black women were instrumental in fighting for civil rights, and she tell’s you their stories. Her stories should be read.
