Starfield is my favorite "Cozy Game"
I've seen this sentiment echoed a good bit on Youtube and I have to agree with it. Starfield is very much a cozy game at it's core. It's relaxing to hop in the game, walk around Neon, Fly around and explore cool planets, do a little base building.
It has so many individual systems that are fun in their own right, and combat is pretty sparse out in the fringes. My favorite thing is to find a new planet and try to find a nice view. like a barren moon next to a planet like Jupiter or Saturn. I didn't want to make this post too long, but I wanted to share that I think Starfield absolutely fits in the "Cozy Game" category.
I do think that's why a lot of people were disappointed initially with it is they were expecting something more "Constant action". Most open world games follow the "30-second rule", where every 30 seconds the player should be engaged in some way. That's a bit of a crude interpretation but The Witcher 3 and Dying Light 2 are good examples of this principle.
Starfield and No Man's Sky inspired me to get into gamedev and as I've been learning more, I'm learning just what a marvel of engineering this game is. It's honestly my favorite space game and definitely in my top 5 games of all time.
