Dad2Be - Looking to Share my Story about Building a Family
I’m a 33 year old intended parent based in Vancouver, BC, and I’ve been on an IVF journey for the past 2.5 years. I feel incredibly grateful to have one healthy embryo ready to go.
Unfortunately, our last two potential surrogates were denied by our clinic, which has been tough, but we’re staying hopeful and committed to moving forward.
I’m sharing here in hopes of connecting with others, learning from your experiences, and hopefully amplifying our search for a surrogate. If you have advice, resources, or are open to helping spread the word, it would mean a lot.
Happy to chat if you have any questions, feel free to reach out!

How do I know if I am eligible or a good fit?
In order to become a GC at Olive, the GC must :
- Have had uncomplicated pregnancy and delivery
- Be a non-smoker under 42 years of age
- Have a BMI under 35
- Be healthy
Will I be paid or compensated?
Payment of a GC for surrogacy is prohibited in Canada, though her expenses can be reimbursed.
Since surrogates can’t be paid, they’re reimbursed for any expenses that come directly from the pregnancy. This can include:
- Medical bills not covered by provincial health
- Travel to and from appointments
- Lost wages (in some cases)
- Childcare during appointments
- Vitamins, supplies, or other health needs
