Pornography addiction
Hey everyone, I’m 29 and my fiancée is 23. I’m coming here because I have a porn addiction that’s seriously affecting my relationship and my libido, and I really need some support.
I hate that I was exposed to it at such a young age. I genuinely believe pornography is one of the most damaging things for a young man’s development. I want to quit, I really do, but it’s taking me some time and I’m struggling with it.
There are times where I choose to watch porn instead of being intimate with my fiancée and it breaks my heart. I sometimes catch myself comparing her to women I’ve seen, her body, her appearance. I even notice myself staring at other women in public and it leaves me feeling really disappointed in myself.
I’ve heard people say that when you truly love someone you don’t look at others. I know I love my fiancée, I wouldn’t have proposed if I didn’t. Every single day since I met her I have put her happiness first and that hasn’t changed.
I feel like just another guy suffering from this disease and it’s lonely honestly. I really hope one day society takes a harder stance against the porn industry. I’ve been going to church and praying here and there, and I think it’s time I start praying specifically for healing in this area too.
Has anyone else dealt with this? How did you get through it? Any advice helps.
