First marathon done, pfitz 18/55
First off, thank you to this community.
I had spent the last year reading, asking questions and advice..... i have learned alot.
I bought the advanced marathoning book and followed the pfitz 18/55 plan schedule exactly as the plan had been layed out. Hit every run and nailed every pace with a few small niggles along the way.
Now I did a half marathon with a horrible prep last year, but caught the bug. Since then i spent the rest of the year training, accumulated weekly milage and hopped into the 18/55 plan.
Results? Goal time was 3:30, chip time 3:35.
The course was very hilly and the temperature was far too hot to be ideal coming from a frozen winter build. So i am more than happy with my time.
I feel that i was sufficiently prepped for the distance and pace. I ran the first half a tad too quick and paid for it in the last 10kms along with the heat. You all said don't do it, the book said don't do it, fresh legs off the taper felt so good, My bad.
All in all, 3:35 for my first marathon with a little less than a year of serious and intentional training. I had a blast.
Anyways, thanks again folks!!
