These last couple of weeks have been really stressful, overwhelming, and emotionally and mentally exhausting. It has been adding to my missing of my sweet boy and lil shadow because he was a huge comfort through one of the worst and isolating experiences in my life. I had gotten Leo with my old roommate at the shelter and even though the staff warned us he wasn't an affectionate boy and didn't like to be touched, he let me pet him and I knew he was the one. I felt like he was misunderstood and just needed someone who saw him. He came back home with us that day. We set him up in the apartment with the carrier and his own little area, so he could explore when he felt comfortable to. It didn't take long and that night he immediately connected with me. He became my literal shadow, following me around the apartment, would sleep with me, and it became a running joke that my roommate was the spare human because as soon as I would come home from work he wanted nothing to do with anyone else but me. Even after I gave him baths in the bathroom sink, which he was not a fan of even with lots of treats as bribes, he would still loaf in the bathroom with me while I showered or sit outside the bathroom door until I finished. When I had hard days at work and would slump on the couch he would purr and rest his body behind my head or rub his little face on mine. I really miss that lil guy especially remember how much comfort and genuine love I felt from him. I had him for a couple years after my roommate moved out and then we did a long distance transport to hold up coparenting. Its been years since I have said goodbye and it still hurts. I have considered asking for him, but it didn't feel fair since they had gotten adjusted to my roommates other cats and didn't want to risk breaking up a bond. I also work, go to school, and live alone, so felt bad possibly leaving him alone for so many hours. I have not adopted or fostered another cat for the same reason. All that to say, is it silly my heart still hurts so much for my lil guy? That in all the hurt I'm dealing with right now, I just wish I could go back to when I would go home and he would run up to the door to see me and rub his lil body all over me until I picked him up?

I know this a really long post, so I understand if you didn't read it all. If you did and relate or empathize, please share your void that doesn't live with you anymore that you miss or even just your cute or silly void pictures. Thank you🖤
