Foreign professional in renewable energy procurement — realistic chances in the U.S. market?

Hi everyone!!

I’m from Chile and currently working in procurement and supply chain leadership roles within the renewable energy industry (solar, wind and BESS projects). I have around 13+ years of experience across LATAM, including EPC and utility-scale projects, managing procurement, logistics, warehousing and supplier negotiations.

I also hold a Master’s degree in Renewable Energies from Spain and I’m currently taking executive-level sustainability studies through MIT.

I wanted to ask honestly: how realistic is it today for U.S. or international companies to hire foreign professionals for senior procurement/supply chain roles like Head of Procurement, Procurement Director or Supply Chain Director?

I know technical roles in software are more common for sponsorship, but I’m curious how companies see experienced professionals in infrastructure/energy procurement.

For context, as a Chilean citizen I’m eligible for the H1B1 visa, which I understand is simpler and cheaper than a traditional H1B.

Also, I know Chileans unfortunately have received negative attention lately because of criminal groups operating abroad. Trust me, many of us in Chile strongly dislike that situation as well, because it affects people who genuinely travel, work and respect the countries they visit. I personally travel to the U.S. frequently for tourism, and my last stay was about 5 weeks traveling across several East Coast cities.

Would love to hear real experiences from hiring managers, recruiters, or foreigners who went through this process.

Thanks!
