Very early demoralisation + body image issues
Hi, so i’ve been working out using dumbbells and the first couple of times I felt so exhilarated after working out, my entire body ached and I felt fatigued in a good way. My body also felt “tighter” and less flabby as if working out had sucked all the excess water away.
However i’ve plateaued in a really significant way and feel as though i’ve regressed big time. I no longer feel tired or sore at all after lifting and never feel as though I got my workout worth. What makes it worse is that I really struggle with finishing sets (even on 10lbs or 5lbs) but any soreness goes away as soon as I put the weight down, almost as though i’m just carrying a large bag of shopping rather than exercising.
Recently i’ve tried incorporating some new things to see if I can get back my earlier willpower and that has somehow just made me feel worse because i’ve seen no change. As a matter of fact I had to cut out romanian deadlifts, bent over row and reverse fly because of how awful a hunch I have in my back - and trust me i’ve tried everything to do with swinging my hips back - same issue.
I’m writing this now because today is the first time i’ve been unable to finish a workout due to feeling like a fat slob who is incapable of anything. I have visions of myself in three months times looking at my before and after pics and seeing absolutely no change and that i’ll never have a body i’m proud of which is what I want so desperately. I feel so demoralised and I have no idea what to do. Has anyone had a similar experience?
