How to Jump from South Korea to Japan with an Office Job?
Hello!
I'm looking for advice because I would like to move back to Japan in March/April 2027.
Job history in Japan: 4 years and 8 months of teaching English, 2 years working in IT and 8 months of working in translation/proofreading. I left Japan suddenly due to an important family member being ill and the dea*h of another family member.
Job history outside of Japan: 2 years of experience in logistics (import/export) in my home country (English speaking country) - wanted to continue proofreading in my home country, but couldn't find any jobs. Now 1 year and 2 months of teaching experience in South Korea.
Qualifications: JLPT N1, no qualifications related to import/export. There is a customs practice and procedure certificate that I want to get next year.
Question:
Would anyone be able to advise on how to go about getting a logistics (import/export) related job in Japan whilst being outside of Japan?
My original plan was to go back to Japan as a teacher and then try, but my Japanese friends have been encouraging me to look into moving back with an office job instead.
I've typed up my 履歴書, a CV for teaching jobs and currently working on my 職務経歴書. Hoping to start job hunting in September 2026.
Does anyone know any reliable recruiters that specilise in recruiting people from overseas? Any recommended websites/job sites for people not in Japan looking to work in Japan?
I'm planning on using LinkedIn, Daijob, Indeed Japan and chatgpt has suggested Michael Page, Hays, Robert Walters and a few others.
Does anyone have any advice or tips?
Thank you!
