Show fans will be the only ones surprised by a cancellation
What's particularly amusing about fans of the show is the way they undermine points either objective/critical fans of the show make. Then once their arguments are debunked, pretend they either never made those points in the first place or move the goal posts entirely.
At first it was 'the show is a smash hit' then, when this was disproved by official data (the steep drop in numbers that are also combined with s1 rewatches, the secondary audience being Brazil which already has middling subscribers and its lack of impact anywhere else in the world) they moved on to to saying that doesn't matter (it does particularly for a 'flagship' of this cost) because at least it was still one of disneys most popular shows.
When we said the lack of acknowledgement s2 had received was strange they spoke about the superbowl ad. When we said the pjo cameo was a split second long and wasn't even featured on the thumbnail/poster for disneys superbowl they said that didn't matter. Disney wouldn't acknowledge something they were cancelling (yes they would...it's still airing/yet to air another season)
When we said no talk of s4/5 thus far is suspicious they said they were keeping it under wraps as a big secret (why on earth they would do that I have no idea this isn't game of thrones, it's a middling kids show with a middling audience) They are now saying Becky promoting a s4 renewal campaign is only because of the opportunity to share art in the fandom and...nothing else.
When we said percabeth stans who keep going on about 'annabeth being loved out loud' and booktok percy theories would not make the show appealing to the wider audience, we were told we hated romance.
It's just the same exact thing over and over and they push the goal posts every time.
