Landlord shut off my power so they could claim the unit was abandoned, getting kicked out

Location: Columbia SC, So for starters, I should mention that I am behind on my rent, but they sent me a notice on 5/1 saying I had 10 days to pay or leave, and now they’re throwing me out only 5 days later. When I got home the yesterday I saw that my locks had been changed and my ac unit was removed, but I could see through the window that all of my things were still inside. The leasing office was closed so I had to wait until today to find out what was going one. They said that I had shut off my connection with dominion and they assumed I was abandoning the unit, but when I called dominion they said that the landlord was the one who had the services switched to their name. They say there’s nothing they can do and that the aforementioned notice doesn’t matter now. Is this legal?
