Forgiveness
Forgiveness is not forgetting
it is the trembling hand
unclenching stone by stone,
the quiet choice
to no longer bleed
for someone else’s wound.
It is the sunrise
after the longest storm,
light touching scars
not to erase them,
but to remind them
they survived the night.
Forgiveness is a river,
slow and sacred,
carving mercy
through jagged earth,
teaching even broken places
how to bloom again.
It does not excuse the fire,
nor silence the pain
but it releases the ashes
so the soul can breathe.
To forgive
is to gift yourself
the freedom
of softer tomorrows,
to loosen grief’s grip
and open your heart
to peace.
For in forgiveness,
we do not surrender
we rise,
carrying wisdom
instead of chains.
