Struggling with auditory processing

Newly Diagnosed

Hi all, I am a newly diagnosed AuDHD woman (received ASD diagnosis last week, ADHD diagnosis in 2024). I have always struggled to recognise/hear people calling my, especially when focused on doing a task or if I am lost in thought.

However, this is now causing a strain on my relationship with my AuDHD partner . This is because of his increased support needs of late and reduced physical capabilities.

My issue is that I want to help support him to the best of my abilities but I don't register when he calls my name at times, or even if he calls my phone it doesn't always get my attention. This is stressful for him as he needs help, and distressing for me as I haven't even registered that he needed me.

So I suppose my question is, does anyone have any strategies that have helped them manage slower or at times missing auditory processing?

Thank you in advance ☺️
