ODE TO A WOMAN

I spent years trying to seek
one who had never come.

but the truth is,
i never had to seek
because i had yet become
who i had to become.

and when that one came
i let it pass,

for some men are the epitome of destruction,
and some men are the embodiments
of hope and beauty.

for i am a prophet,
the speaker of words
that embody
the pieces of me
i left in you.

confidentially
i am part of you,
for i am beauty.

i am the breath
of every cigarette
you yearn
to bring into your lungs.

every drop of blood
running down the creases of your palms,
every breath
that passes deeply
into your soul.

i am the ridges of the mountains
you have forever sought
to bring into your vision.

for you are to me
as i am to a man—
the epitome of destruction.

the desire
that designed the heart.

the desire for love.

the desire for pain
i have instilled into you.

ode to a beautiful girl.

ode, to a woman—
for i am, to you,
as the trees are to breath:

we speak nothingness
into the vast emptiness of your heart
that i have filled

not because i am the man
who passed you,

but because
i am the boy
who has let you pass through me.

*i would love some constructive criticism and interpretations. as i put a ton of care and effort into this piece specifically and i want to share that raw emotion with everyone who is interested.*
