looking for cool places to stay/visit in LA (visiting from out of town)

hii! my gf and I will be visiting LA in a couple of months celebrating our 5 years and would love to know what y'all think the best places to stay/visit in LA are.

we're both mid 20s and would love to be able to stay somewhere walkable, but really would just love to see cool parts of the city. we're into music, would love to go to a lesbian bar, etc. we don't necessarily need to see all of the touristy parts of LA.
