Thank you, community
Hey everyone,
Years ago (I had a different reddit account that I had to delete), I was traumatized by losing my 8 year old small dog due to liver failure. I was one of those fools who kept thinking/believing "grain free" boutique brands were better and "big corporate" dog food companies were evil. I firmly believe my ignorant decision making contributed to my dogs early death. I wont go into that but when I adopted my (now) 7 year old lab mix as a puppy, I vowed to research and look further into the evidence-based quality dog food.
Several of you posted about WSAVA guidelines. I looked further into this, largely thanks to this community, and we have stuck with it. Shes been on pro plan for years and her senior bloodwork just came back as stellar. Its such a damn relief considering my last dog was so sick by the time he reached this age.
I know apples to oranges and every dog comes with their own family history/genetic makeup. However, I also know their diet is instrumental in generating positive health outcomes.
Anyway, shout out to long timers on here who have educated so many with their knowledge while also dispelling myths about marketing campaigns targeted at well meaning but generally ignorant dog lovers (like i once was).
