Bengal is long known for political violence, but even by these standards the murder of Chandranath Rath must be seen as a dastardly and ignoble.

The TMC has got away with several such incidents over the last 15 years and now is the time to take them to task. Mamata's behaviour after the elections when she refused to lose gracefully and levelled absurd allegations against the EC and central forces is directly responsible for this. The TMC goons wrongly feel that they need to avenge their leader's humiliation in the hustings and the only way they know how to do so is wanton violence.

This is a challenge that the BJP and the people of Bengal cannot ignore. There will be hell to pay not only by the goons but also their masters.
