what I should do as an HRM student?
I received a scholarship to get a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration with Human Resources Management in a University of London teaching centre, and I’m still a bit lost on what I should focus on and how I should build myself.
I’m in my IFP year now, and my teaching centre is really helping by encouraging us to participate in events and helping us to get internships with big companies from the start so I’ll start an internship this summer hopefully.
I don’t want to start getting random experiences and positions from the start and I want to plan strategically to get the most out of my studying years, and I want to start trying to get side certifications that’ll help me get a good salary when I start full-time in the future after graduation. I already got to be the secretary in my university’s student council and I don’t know if it’s really helpful in terms of gaining experience and putting a good name in my current CV that I’ll use to get an internship.
I want advice on what I should do from now so that I don’t become lost in the future and properly shape my CV so that it doesn’t look like I’m jumping at any opportunity given to me, so I need to know what internship positions should I be looking for and what skills and programs should I start training on so that I could really get to have a high paying career.
So far, my advisor said that the best role to internship in is a project manager based on my personality and the way that I work, but I’m not entirely sure and I don’t want to feel like I’ve wasted my summer working in a position that’ll look stupid later on.
Please give me EVERYTHING that I should know from now, the programs that I should familiarise myself with, and the certifications that I can get as a student now that can look good and give an impression that I’m planning strategically as a person looking for internships now AND for when I start looking for a full-time job…
