Should I ask this guy if we’re still going out?

Hey guys I need help. I was meeting a guy from a dating app and I still feel confused. We met up 2 times out to do things in public. We rollerskate together before and we also did a park walk. This guy and I have similar hobbies but some of his are different than mine. He plays card games and reads a lot of books, which I don’t but I love hearing about it. And he will explain them in a lot of detail, make sure to tell me the backstory or all these different parts etc. And it’s cool to hear. But I think he sometimes takes things very at face value. He’s also funny and enjoys joking around. But the energy changed this last time.

We were trying to figure out what to do. He was on a work trip and wasn’t sure when he’d be back, but eventually he got back to me. The prior time we talked he wanted to show me his book collection and said I can come and look and even borrow some. I told him we should meet somewhere out for now because I’d feel better with that and I also was going to the airport later and he lives a bit far from me.

We meet up outside and we talk. The whole thing was great, he even said when I’m back we should do a pottery class. And then we go to our cars, he said let’s meet up on Thursday next week and he kisses me. But the summary of this story is that the kiss was a bit awkward. He missed my lips but went back, and we collided instead of really kissing. After he walked off.

He used to message me pretty quick after meeting and we’d continue to banter. Yet now I heard nothing. So I reach out with something light. We continue on talking but it’s very surface level and Thursday is tomorrow. I’m not sure what to do or say and feel awkward about this all. Before he kissed me he said next time I can check his book collection at his house. I don’t know if he means he wants to do something else. I just really need help on deciding what to say and then I’ll move on. I’m overthinking this too much and I keep replaying it
