Chuseok Travel 2026

Hi all, I am about to book tickets to Seoul from Calgary. Arrive 6.45pm Sunday 20th September, depart 8.45pm Sunday 27th September.

I now realise Chuseok is at the end of my trip. Doh. The only out of city travel I had thought about was a day trip to hike in Bukhansan National Park, and potentially a DMZ trip. The other days spent in Seoul itself. (Bukhansan might be easier to get to over Seoraksan, however I am an avid hiker…more research to be done).

Realistically, would doing those trips on the Tuesday and Wednesday (before Chuseok “starts” on the Thursday) be the best bet? Or do these types of trips not matter? (Ie it’s not train travel to another major city like Busan etc). Would getting to Seoraksan be an issue in this time frame?
