It takes place in a medieval or victorian setting. (Note: This is in the fantasy genre, so this doesn't take place in the real world. No romance is involved regarding the main characters.)

It's about a group of female assassins that work undercover as maids for this noble estate. They were sent to that specific kingdom to target one individual—the king, who's known for his hedonistic nature, heavy corruption, and cruelty against his own people. They were placed under the roof of a noblewoman's estate (someone that hosts banquets that the king attends) instead of working for the king directly as to not raise even the slightest bit of suspicion.

The king’s palace is impenetrable basically. Its servants are bound by loyalty, magic, and constant surveillance. Any outsider would be exposed within days. These undercover assassins inside the palace—even as maids—would still mean that they would be constantly scrutinized and possibly have their covers blown.

Their goal is to obviously get the job done and getting out without surfacing who they actually are.
