Suspecting I have HSV.. how do I go about Sexual relations/interactions (before results )

Physician Responded

F21 let me start by saying I know sexual activity is NOT the only way to contract HSV. However, I think it might be a little relevant to the plot later.

I started getting cold sores a few years ago on and off. I’ve just recently had the courage to get a test for STIs/STDs and it came back all negative, thankfully. Then I found out that HSV is so common it requires its own panel. I went in again and my doctor told me for the best and most accurate results they’d recommend I come back in when I have an active sore. This was disappointing, but I understood. I just want answers now so I don’t have to live my life walking on eggshells.

I was told since I didn’t have the results that it’s not necessary to “disclose” something that I might not even have. I was also told that technically I could engage in kissing if I wasn’t shedding (which is hard to predict when) or having an active outbreak or sore.

I just recently started dating and I’ve met someone that I’m seriously interested in and I feel like we’re on the brink of crossing the intimate barrier OR even just a kiss and it makes me so hesitant. I don’t want to accidentally give someone something knowing I could’ve prevented it(thinking that I was safe to do so) . Especially considering I’m a virgin and I have yet to even engage in sex, so I feel like on top of having nerves from it being the first time, I’m also so conscious about my health and it affecting others. I’m also nervous on how to go about it considering I have yet to even know for sure what my results are and I’m also afraid of scaring this person away. The way people talk about it online makes it seem like it’s airborne and I can’t help but feel like I’m just a walking danger sign or something. And when looking for clarity, sometimes I get even more confused.

maybe TMI but I’ve been super horny, but in the name of being responsible I really want someone who knows what they’re talking about to walk me through all I would need to know for my predicament and the “just Incases”
