Tips for my first game?

I’m playing my first game of TI4 this weekend and would appreciate some tips. I’ve watched a couple videos but they don’t seem to explain gameplay too well or maybe I just don’t understand but I really appreciate being invited to play and I don’t wanna slow down gameplay by not know anything. All tips greatly appreciated thanks.
