If your going to stay with someone for a minute while your out the country, would you ask for a picture of the place

So im going to stay with a family member i’ve never met before in my life. I asked my mom how does her house look because ngl i just feel like i need to see where im laying my head at night. same way if your booking a Airbnb, you want to see pictures. my mom is telling me shes not going to ask for pictures because she knows the lady (who is here niece) and she doesn’t see that as a respectful question. but its like how can you invalidate someone else’s concerns? I don’t know this woman although shes family i’ve never met her and how can I stay at someone’s house and i’ve never even seen it or seen this person. I don’t know if shes a tidy person or how she even acts i’ve never met her and shes denying me this ladies number or pictures of the house. like in my opinion i feel blind because how can i just go somewhere i have no idea where im sleeping. family ain’t always reliable and not all the time do they come through just cause ya related so id like to see for myself. My friend thats coming on the trip also wants to see where we will be staying. and this is not meant to be disrespectful or judge her character or something like that, this isjust for my own comfort. So what ya think, do ya think im dragging it or is this a reasonable concern?
