Why are financial advisors working in grocery stores?

My friend works in an organic grocery store that's owned by a corporation that rhymes with Kablamazon.

He's told me recently he's seeing a large influx of job applicants in his departments from people who were financial advisors (or wealth management).

Why is this field seeing a huge wave of people laid off/fired from their jobs suddenly?
