App connection for 2021 718 GTS 4.0

I bought a used 2021 718 GTS 4.0 about a year ago. When I got it, I already had the Porsche app on my phone, so I connected it. Then it told me to take it to the dealership to get it activated. When I did that (last year) the dealership seemed befuddled and could not activate it.

It has an LTE cell connection (not 3G). But they claim it cannot be activated. I am taking it in this week for some minor stuff, I was thinking about pushing this issue again.

Am I missing anything here? Is there any value to the app and remote connectivity? Is there anyway to get it activated without involving the dealership?
