Tattoo collector healing time

I'm not sure if this a loophole( wouldn't be surprised) or if the ink would still hold in the skin of a very fresh tattoo as planned out by the tattoo collector before dexter kills him, as I would of thought it would of been best for the tattoo collector to kill after a few months of the tattoo rather than make a big deal about killing right after she finished the tattoo.
