Important Reminder
This subreddit is really great for finding materials and study tips; however, I think we all need to remember that we’re individuals at the end of the day.
I’m taking the MCAT soon, and I feel like I “wasted” (in quotes, because it was better than nothing) a lot of time trying to make this sub's most tried and true study methods work. And that’s not to say they aren’t great for a lot of people, they just didn’t match my learning style.
We all have different backgrounds and skills, and while there’s definitely overlap, these things can make a really huge difference when it comes to the MCAT. If you try something that everyone swears by and you feel like you’re not really benefiting from it, that doesn’t mean that you’re doing it wrong or that it’ll “click” eventually. It might just not work for you.
This is especially true for people with ADHD (like me) or other conditions that make learning more complicated. Not everyone experiences these things the same way! The biggest part of dealing with ADHD for me was learning about my own brain and its very specific quirks. I’ve seen tips from others with ADHD that would be disastrous for me, as I’m sure my habits would be for others.
It’s still really great to browse this sub and get ideas, just remember that you know yourself better than anyone on here.
