Any sports marketing career advice/mentorship?

Advice

Hi! I’m hoping to connect with someone in the marketing world who’d be open to being a mentor or just someone I can have honest conversations with about career growth and navigating the current job market.

For some background - I’m a 30-year-old currently working in sports marketing in paid media/digital marketing, and on paper I have a “good job.” But I’m at a point where I’m trying to figure out what’s next professionally and personally. My wife and I are expecting our first child this summer, and being closer to family has become a huge priority, so I’ve been seriously considering a move back home.

The challenge is that the marketing job market feels brutal right now, especially in sports. I’m struggling with questions like when it’s the right time to leave a stable role, how to make myself stand out in this market, and whether leaving a good situation for a better life situation is worth the risk.

I’d really appreciate advice from people who’ve been through similar situations - especially anyone who has left a solid job to move closer to home/family or pivot into a different industry.

I’m not necessarily looking for handouts or job referrals - more just genuine insight, perspective, and maybe a mentor-type connection from people who’ve been in a similar situation.

Appreciate any advice or stories to share.
