Sorry to be the thousandth person to ask this, but do I have the right to say I'm Scottish?
I looked around at some others who asked this question here too but their situations were a bit different to mine;
I was born in Scotland (fort william hospital)
My parents are from Yorkshire
I lived in Thurso till I was 8, until we moved to south england where I've spent the last 12 years
I speak with a fairly standard English accent though some people around me have noted that my accent is noticeably different to others
Apparently my family has Scottish heritage but this is going back like 3 or 4 generations or something so idk if that counts for much, and apparently this involves familial relation to clan Mackintosh too
Generally I identify as British for simplicity's sake, but I feel I identify with Scotland much more than I ever could with England, I don't feel any kind of patriotism towards England whereas I do for Scotland, I'm in favour of Scottish independence, and if I was forced to choose between England and Scotland I'd choose Scotland.
