Built a cooking app that doesn't just save TikTok/IG/YouTube recipes โ it translates them into 7 languages ๐บ๐ธ ๐ฉ๐ช ๐ซ๐ท ๐ฎ๐น ๐ช๐ธ ๐ต๐น ๐บ๐ฆ
I'm a home cook, and I cook at home a lot. Many things I cook for the first time give me real panic attacks, so I often turned to AI chat for help to explain how and what to do better. But every single time, I had to bring it up to speed on what I was cooking. And the recipes it generated became one-offs they just got lost in the chat history.
I also saved a lot of recipes from Instagram, but usually cooked maybe one out of fifty. The rest just got lost and became clutter in my saved tab. Plus I'm not a native speaker, so quickly understanding and remembering a recipe is hard for me.
That's why I decided to build FOODIE to solve all of these problems for myself.
Some of what FOODIE can do:
- Import from any source โ social networks (TikTok, YouTube, Instagram), websites, or a photo of grandma's cookbook
- FOODIE speaks 7 languages (English ๐บ๐ธ , Ukrainian ๐บ๐ฆ, German ๐ฉ๐ช, French ๐ซ๐ท, Italian ๐ฎ๐น, Spanish ๐ช๐ธ, Portuguese ๐ต๐น) โ a French TikTok recipe lands in your Spanish app already translated.
- The AI chef knows a recipe you saved โ ask how to cook it better, swap a missing ingredient, make it meatless, or invent a medieval feast.
- Designed to feel like the cookbook on your grandmother's shelf โ beige, terracotta, Playfair Display.
- I made 700 watercolor ingredient images so the app feels like a real cookbook in your hands.
- And of course โ a smart grocery list (organized by ingredient or recipe) and a calendar for meal planning.
Free to start with 5 recipes, then $2.99/month or $24.99/year for unlimited.
I want cooking to be pure joy โ and even the most complex dish to feel like an exciting adventure.
Would love your honest feedback to keep making the app better.
Honestly, growing FOODIE is really hard =)
Thanks!
