Deathfire touch rune?

Does the W trigger the Deathfire passive rune for 4 seconds? I'm just trying to understand the rune's potential vs Aftershock, considering Rammus's W and his passive via its AD bonus. Could it scale better than Aftershock?

I saw a master Rammus in Korea doing it, but I'm not sure if it was a troll or not 😄
