i honestly think Addison deserved way more happiness
every time i rewatch greys anatomy i end up feeling more emotional about Addison than i expected. i think a lot of people reduce her character to just the cheating storyline with Derek but when you actually pay attention to her scenes theres so much sadness loneliness and emotional exhaustion underneath everything. she came into the show already carrying years of damage in her marriage and even though she absolutely made mistakes it never felt as simple as people sometimes make it seem
what always stands out to me is how hard she tried to hold herself together even when things around her were falling apart. and honestly compared to a lot of other characters she seemed surprisingly emotionally aware and mature most of the time. she knew when she messed up she knew when relationships were broken and there were so many moments where she quietly accepted pain instead of turning everything into chaos. plus underneath all of that she was still funny warm supportive and genuinely cared about people
the older i get the more i stop seeing Addison as the villain of that situation and start seeing her as someone who was deeply unhappy and trying to figure out her life while making very human mistakes. honestly i just wanted her to finally get real happiness at some point because there were moments where she looked genuinely exhausted emotionally. does anyone else feel way more sympathetic toward Addison on a rewatch compared to the first time watching the show?
