So Bustier’s teaching methods have been… controversial, among the fanbase to put it lightly, especially with episodes like Zombizou. But I kind of feel like her attitude (with some adjustments) could have been explained better if she was shown to be a new teacher at Françoise Dupont, rather than having taught the class since kindergarten (which, seriously, how is that possible?!).

The idea is that Ms. Bustier would arrive at the school in ‘Origins’, and the whole situation with Ivan happens partially because she’s not familiar with the kids and mistakingly assumes Ivan is the aggressor in his conflict with Kim, although she does apologise after the Stoneheart incident. Her presence and differing attitude compared to past teachers also helps to both bolster Marinette’s confidence and Adrien’s self-esteem, as well as potentially give Chloé a different perspective, since I feel like Bustier wouldn’t be like teachers Chloé has had in the past (maybe have Bustier not be cowed by Chloé’s threats but still be compassionate due to recognising the signs of Audrey’s emotional abuse, which confuses Chloé). Unfortunately, her inexperience does lead her to make mistakes that her older peers wouldn’t have, which could add credence to some of her more controversial actions (well, that and plot-induced stupidity).

Of course, you’d probably have to have the series take place over a wider time frame to better explain how Bustier goes from an inexperienced teacher to the new mayoress of Paris and a mother over the span of five seasons, but as someone who feels like the show should have spanned all three years of lycée for the first arc, this isn’t much of an issue for me. But what are your thoughts about this premise?

I feel like a lot of the issues with Ms. Bustier could have been solved if she was a rookie teacher
