My husband (40) with stage 4 NSCLC
My husband (40) was diagnosed with stage 4 metastatic non-small cell lung cancer (adenocarcinoma) in August 2025. At the time of diagnosis, he had a large tumor (20 cm) in his right lung and developed superior vena cava syndrome (SVCS).
He started treatment with carboplatin, pemetrexed, Keytruda, and radiation therapy. The treatment initially worked well — the SVCS improved and the tumor shrank significantly.
Unfortunately, beginning in January 2026, new metastatic areas started to appear. His April PET scan suggested progression despite Keytruda treatment, and the SVCS returned. He is now receiving docetaxel, and a venous stent was placed recently.
He has stopped smoking. We are trying to understand what to realistically expect from this stage of treatment and whether others have had experience with docetaxel after immunotherapy resistance.
