What is a good baseline to start playing MP?

Id like to start playing MP matches but dont want to ruin the game for the rest of my team. Im currently playing the campaigns and so to familiarize with the units and can win from AI on normal dificulty. Still dont know many of the divisions, thats probably whats holding me back the most. What is a good base level to start joining MP games?
