Experiencing finasteride side effects
Noticed my hair thinning a bit on the crown and as a 40 year old male, thought I would get ahead of it a bit by taking manual pills (i'm in the UK) which contains finasteride and minoxidl and a spray. Was well aware of possible side effects but it seemed like there was a fairly low % of experiencing them so why not.
Anyway, I'm not sure of the timeline but after a couple of months I noticed that my orgasms started getting way weaker and when I was working out or exercising my penis would shrivel up a bit and my balls move further into my body. This wasn't happening before and both of these conditions did not go away. Then I started noticing my dick shrivel up a bit more often, like when I was out - usually standing up in a bar or something - and I feel like it might actually have shrunk a bit just in general. My hair did seem to stop thinning and grow back a bit though sot hat was cool. I hoped all this would go away.
It didn't. I decided to stop taking the pills about November last year but nothing has really gotten better. I still can't have an orgasm anywhere near like I did before and I'm finding it harder to get erections in general and finish off when I'm having sex with my wife. I don't seem to have random erections at all anymore and it's quite an effort to masturbate although I still manage to ejaculate. My penis definitely seems like it's gotten smaller and often feels shrivelled up when I'm out or working out which is very distracting and demoralising. My hair is thinning a bit too but it's not too bad - it wasn't even that much of a problem to begin with tbh.
ANyway, reading through people's experiences it seems like my body has stopped producing testosterone to the level i need it to and I should go and see a doctor to try and combat this, but obviously that's going to be very embarrassing. Just wondering if anyone here has any similar symptoms and advice and whether it'll just wear off after a few more months. I reckon i was taking it for about 9 months so there's still a few more before we're even. I've also started taking some vitamin D supplements to try and help with producing T and I haven't really experienced any other side effects like suicidial thoughts or depression etc.
Thanks in advance for your help.
