Turnitin Flagged My Original Research Paper Despite Proof I Wrote It
I am a postgraduate Data Analytics student, and I honestly feel drained. I keep getting flagged by Turnitin AI detection even though I write everything myself from scratch. I even screen-recorded my writing process, typed manually without AI tools, and used my own research and citations from journal articles. Still, my papers get flagged.
What makes this harder is that I come from a strong research-writing background. I was trained in scientific and academic writing for years before AI tools even existed. Writing clearly and formally is normal for me, but now it feels like good writing itself is being treated as suspicious.
The most frustrating part is that when I intentionally lower the quality of my writing by removing transitions, simplifying sentence structure, and leaving grammar mistakes, the AI score suddenly drops. It feels wrong having to submit weaker work just to avoid being flagged.
I raised my concerns with the school and even offered to complete assessments onsite, but nothing really changed. At one point, students were even advised to use rewriting tools on their own work to reduce AI scores, which honestly felt insulting.
At this stage, I am trying to protect my mental health while still finishing the program. I am also gathering old research papers and thesis work from before AI existed to show that this has always been my writing style.
Has anyone else dealt with this situation? How did you move forward without compromising your writing standards?
