Public Event matching opt out

Why do Strava not provide a toggle to opt out of the public event matching, where they infer in part of, and support, an event purely because I started my activity somewhere nearby and within some minutes of the published start time??

I’ve got nothing against parkrun, but I don’t like having to manually remove the event from tons of my runs that I start in a park on a Saturday…and I especially don’t like that even a swipe (rather than an intentional click/press) over these adverts can result in being thrown to an event page.

Is there a GDPR question mark here??
