I built a free CLI to bulk-check Dell, HP, and Lenovo warranty status — no API keys needed

I got tired of copying serial numbers into vendor warranty pages one at a time, and PowerShellWarrantyReports has had broken HP and Lenovo lookups for a while now. So I built something.

warrantycheck is a Node.js CLI that checks warranty status by hitting the public vendor warranty pages directly. No API keys, no vendor portal accounts, no enterprise contracts. Just give it a serial number and it returns the warranty status, expiration date, service level, and days remaining.

warrantycheck lookup ABC1234

Vendor: Dell
Serial: ABC1234
Product: Latitude 5540
Status: EXPIRED
End Date: 2025-06-15
Days Left: -320
Service Type: ProSupport Next Business Day

What it does:

  • Single and bulk lookups for Dell, HP, and Lenovo
  • Auto-detects vendor from serial format — no need to specify
  • Bulk CSV and XLSX support — point it at a spreadsheet, it writes warranty data back into the same file
  • Fleet summary — total devices, active vs expired, broken down by vendor
  • Client profiles — save file paths and column mappings per client for repeat runs
  • HTML report export — color-coded warranty report you can email to a client or manager
  • Dell TechDirect API support if you have credentials (optional, browser fallback works fine)
  • Resume support — if a run gets interrupted, it picks up where it left off

Install:

npm install -g warrantycheck

Requires Node.js 18+. Chromium installs automatically.

Bulk example:

warrantycheck bulk fleet.csv --output results.csv
warrantycheck bulk fleet.xlsx --serial-col "Service Tag"
warrantycheck summary results.csv

It's free, open source, and on GitHub: https://github.com/Fe-Leaf/WarrantyCheck

If you run into issues or want a vendor added, open an issue. Happy to hear what would make this more useful.
