Unsure how to even go about describing chronic nerve issues

Question

Hi everyone!

Sorry if this isn't the right sort of subreddit for this type of thing, I'm honestly not even sure what's wrong with me and if it qualifies as some sort of chronic illness. I'd just like to know if there's existing terminology I could be using to do research and for when I talk to my GP.

On and off for the last two years, I've been experiencing what I've been calling 'nerve twinges'. It kind of feels like being lightly shocked or zapped, in different areas of my body. Sometimes it's a body part that's actively working, like sometimes part of my leg twinges when I'm walking, and sometimes it isn't, like sometimes I'll feel it in my arms or torso when I'm sitting and working. It's like when someone static shocks you, but it's like it's under my skin, and I have no clue when it's coming. It's mostly manageable - it's usually not all that painful, and at absolute worst if I stumble or something I can recover okay.

Some days, I forget it's even a problem. Some days, like today, it feels near constant and it actively distracts/annoys me. I've been able to live with it fine until now, but not only am I worried it's a sign of some nerve issues/underlying stress, I'm also sick of living with it and not having any idea how to prevent, mitigate or deal with it.

Does anyone else have anything like this, and is there some sort of terminology that might help me find some more useful information about how to proceed?
