Is the difference between specialized recruiters and generalists for technical hiring as big as peoplesay?

I know this sounds obvious but I've been thinking about it more concretely lately. We've worked with a few different recruiters and the ones who really knew B2B saas hiring specifically could run the search with way less hand-holding. They didn't ask me to explain what a strong growth hire looks like, they already had a framework. The ones who were more generalist were fine but every conversation I was basically re teaching context that should have been assumed. 

Have any of you had this experience and did you seek out specialized recruiters intentionally or just end up there by luck.
