Anyone else spend more energy avoiding something than it would take to just do it?

❓ Question

This happens to me constantly. I'll have one important task on my list; send an email, finish a proposal, make a decision, and instead of doing it I'll spend hours doing literally everything else. Cleaning my desk. Checking notifications. Reorganizing things that don't need reorganizing.

What I've noticed is that the avoidance itself is exhausting. By the end of the day I feel drained even though I technically didn't do the hard thing.

I started trying to diagnose why I avoid specific things. Sometimes it's fear of the outcome. Sometimes the task just feels too big to start. Sometimes it's pure boredom. Sometimes I need it to be perfect before I begin.

Once I named the actual reason, it became way easier to take one small step.

Curious what works for others here. Do you have a system for getting yourself unstuck? And what's the thing you're avoiding most right now, and do you actually know why?
