Do companies ask for experience letter during job switch

Hi All,

One of the seniors who left my company and switched to another company told me during his end days in my company, that the second company didn't ask for his experience letter of the current company, they asked for the joining letter only. Is this the case for most of the companies? Can we make a job switch without experience letter in most companies?
