I've been faking my way through a marketing job for six months and there's a presentation to the entire leadership team on Friday. Do I confess or just suffer through it?

Some context. My actual background is in graphic design. I freelanced for four years, was decent at it, got tired of chasing invoices, and applied to a "Marketing Coordinator" role at a tech startup on a whim. I listed "campaign strategy" on my resume because I once made graphics for a campaign someone else strategized. They hired me in two weeks.

That was six months ago.

Since then I have survived entirely on confidence, Google, asking questions in a way that sounds like I already know the answer, and a Slack channel where I can watch what my coworkers say before I say anything myself. My browser history is a crime scene. Every single day contains at least one moment where someone says a term I don't fully understand and I type it into Google under my desk while nodding.

The thing is the stakes have been low enough that vibes were carrying me. Write some copy, coordinate some assets, sit in meetings and contribute one good point per meeting so people remember I was there. That era is over.

On Friday I have to present a full channel performance analysis to the leadership team. With numbers. And recommendations. And they will ask follow up questions in real time and expect real answers from someone who actually understands what the numbers mean.

I have four days. I don't know if I should tell my manager I'm in over my head, speed run six months of marketing knowledge before Friday, or simply disappear into the woods and start a new life.

What do I do.
