What would happen if Spider-man was real in our world but the U.S government was trying to find out his identity?

How do you think people would react if spider-man was real in our world? He lives in NYC and wears the same costume as in comic books, however no one knows his real identity, and it’s obviously not peter parker. One day he just appears swinging around NYC and it makes headlines, he performs impossible feats like saving people from a fire, lifting cars, and shooting webs from his hands and insane acrobatic movements that no human do. He is saving people everyday, and civilians love him.

Now this makes global news and the government is issuing an arrest warrant for him because he is an vigilante and well they of course want to study him and do experiments. How do you think the citizens of the United States would react if they found out the government wanted to take him away? Would there be large riots?
