Welcome to Kronic Kuts™
I make my own edibles. I thought I was being careful.
I'd cut a 100mg bar into 10 pieces and assume each piece was 10mg. Seemed reasonable. Except the pieces were never actually the same size - and with edibles, a 15% difference in piece size can be the difference between a nice evening and a really bad one.
I'd been doing this for two years before I actually measured. Some of my "10mg" pieces were closer to 14mg. Some were 7mg. I was basically dosing randomly and wondering why the effects were so inconsistent.
The problem isn't the edible. It's that eyeballing a cut on a chocolate bar is genuinely not accurate enough for controlled consumption - especially if you're microdosing for anxiety or sleep and you actually need it to work the same way every time.
I started looking for a way to fix this and couldn't find anything built specifically for edibles. Most dosing tools just do the math (mg per piece) but don't account for the fact that your cuts are never perfectly equal.
Ended up building something that uses your phone camera to detect the edges of the edible, calculates actual piece size from the image, and overlays cut lines in 5% increments so you hit your target dose consistently. Also tracks THC, CBD, and CBG sessions so you can actually see what doses work for you over time.
Anyone else run into this? Curious if other home edible makers have found workarounds - or if this was just me being sloppy.
