Aspiring MSL needs help

No MSL experience, looking for some honest advice.

I’m an MD with about 10 years of experience in Medical Affairs, mostly focused on practice growth, HCP education, and clinical training. I’ve been trying to break into an MSL role for about a year now. I’ve only landed around 3 interviews, one of which went 3 to 4 rounds, but I didn’t get the offer.

I’m a US citizen, strong communicator, and I’ve built solid relationships with HCPs over the years, so I feel like my background should translate well. The frustrating part is that most of my applications get rejected within days or weeks, and it feels like I’m not even getting a real shot.

I’m open to stepping into lower-level roles if that’s what it takes to get my foot in the door, whether that’s MSL adjacent or anything that builds relevant experience.

Would really appreciate any honest feedback, especially from people who have been in a similar position or made the transition successfully. I’ve always tried to support others in their careers, just feeling a bit stuck right now.

Thanks in advance.
