How to not think? How to let go a thought?
Okay, I know this has been asked too much in this subreddit but I didn't find any post that answers the question properly.
So, sometimes I get overwhelming thoughts. I literally cannot stop. I can momentarily but in a long term I still havent find a way. Now I know that you cannot control your thinking. Thoughts just come and go. But my thoughts dont go away. If I dont do anything how would they even go away? And I find the phrase "not doing anything" weird because you are doing things all the time. For instance at that occasion I'm thinking. I have to stop thinking and what is doing something.
I came to the conclusion that I have to not react to my thoughts? More you try to suppress it worse it gets. But isnt that also a reaction? How am I going to not react to the thoughts? Is it something I have to figure out?
By the way I also tried observing and it was like, by trying to observe you are kinda reacting and creating more thoughts. It works momentarily but overtime it also overwhelms you. People also say just notice it but noticing without judgement is also a reaction??? Which makes it worse?
Isn't there a proper way to not think?
